Welcome to my new video. The title of this video is: “Counter Strike and Warcraft – never again” What’s it all about today? I used to play Counter Strike earlier, what did you like to play? Write it down in the comments. Well as you know the biggest Youtube-Channels in Germany are Gaming-Channels like “Gronkh” and “Kontor.TV” The question is: What impact does computer games have on you? There is an interview with the media scientist Manfred Spitzer. He replies to the question: Which symptoms has an internet-junky? When someone is shooting around in the online RPG World of Warcraft almost all around the clock he is suffering when he is suddenly offline. There are similar withdrawal symptoms as
at drug addicts. Alot of time is needed to get them away from the computer and and that game. Often these young people are only avatars
in their virtual world and have to re-learn that real-life can be interesting and and exciting. Its hard to imagine but they threaten to kill themselves or to chop off his left hands when they are not allowed to be online anymore. The young people are sitting in their rooms all the time and barely move. You probably also know the problem that when you are gaming alot then you are getting lonely with time. I want to tell you my story.
I got my first computer at the age of 13. I was completely fascinated. Then I started playing computer-games and someday I spent almost all of my free-time
on the PC. I always played a lot there although with friends but sometime you are getting also lonely. I mainly played role-playing games: “Age of Empires”, “Baldurs Gate” but also “Counter Strike”. I had less and less time for hobbys or sports or school… My sister can confirm that I sometimes got agressive when someone wanted to take away the cable
of my computer. So I was like a drug addict as I was computer addict as also alot of other people are. One day – I was 19 years old – I was asking myself:
What am I doing with my time? Other people do sports – they are maybe in a basketball-club and the learn something they have capabilities and I waste my time on the computer. At that point I said I want to do
something real with my life. I made a decision one day and I thrrow all my
computer-games in the trash. Also the games on the mobilephone and since then I never again palyed these games and
I never started again. Life is alot nicer and you can be happy
about small things again. Computergames very often promote egoism. You are alone frequently and its about yourself. You must try to win – to kill as many people as you can. You are your own boss. You get blunted. You get insensitive for the suffering of others. You are constantly killing people and you are even happy about that. That has a strom influence on your mind and feelings. So you don’t really learn social things while gaming – You learn how to kill others. Thats not really social competence or is someone of you out there thinking it is? Real life, on the other hand, is so worth living!
Don’t miss it. It’s quite strongly generalized. There are also game where you can learn something. For example “Sims”. Yes there are. Ok, thats right. If you decide today, you need to know, it will not be easy. While Gaming you have constantly stimuli and you get more and more and in real-life
that’s not always the case. If you study, sometimes you have to learn for three months for a test. You learn eight hours a day and no reward in sight. But I want to motivate you: hold on, even if it is hard. And how do it – its not easy – for me it was so that God has given me the strength. You can set goals. Set the goal for example: I want to become an engineer. And then you can reach that goal step by step. I can tell you it is a marvelous feeling when you worked hard and maybe studied for five years and you reached a degree and then it is just wonderful when you hold
that degree in your hand. And when you don’t just not play computergames but you do something positive for society and humanity… There are other cases as well you may also know them. I have a friend, where things went differently. He was also addicted to computergames. He played alot of “World of Warcraft” and “Tekken” and such. He is now in his thirties and he still can not stop. And that’s really not nice. He is living alone in a house and it is a mess. He does not care about the house nor about the garden. He has no social competence. Ho doesn’t know
how to dress adequately. He gained weight and he feels
uncomfortable among people. He does not earn his own money, he is always ant home. It can also end like this and I want to motivate you:
Do not let your life be like this. Now I want to motivate you: I ask you: Do something with your live, throw the computergames away. Take your life in your own hands, do things even as they do not seem to be exciting. Take your life in your own hands. Write down some comments,
I will answer them defenitly. As always: Truth matters!
See you next time. Subscribe
