Gambling and Games
Thank you for something other than a solo playthrough. I'll watch this one a couple times too
At the 31:00 mark you forgot to roll the military dice?
Let me set some expectation too. There are some goofs. This isn't meant to teach you how to play, Rodney does a fantastic job of that. I'll say it's 95% accurate. I forget a dice roll at one point. I hand out a wrong building at one point. It's little stuff that I would love to have not done – for y'alls sake – but it happened. I couldn't very well ask him if we could start over because I goofed. This is very representative of how we play, if we mess up, we'll try and fix it and just continue. So please, just view this video from the perspective of someone who is hanging out to watch us play a game where we're very verbose and talk through what's going on.
Edit: Please turn on Klingon subtitles to see corrections to those mistakes. This is a work in progress and I'm currently through the first two eras.
I find it strange that everyone's first turn is income. Why not just make that part of the set up? I suppose there could be a future expansion or something that sets up a civilization with starting resources before everyone?
I have to agree that the Worker resource does look like Baymax… LOL..
Thanks for the clear playthrough. Good to see player interactions. Don't worry about the goofs. I think it's quite common for us mortals to make a few mistakes during play. It doesn't take away the gaming experience.
What you do should worry about is your son beating you every time (he really kicked your 'derrière' on this one 😛 )
Hey Dusty, thanks for this playtrough, I think you could make up some points to come closer to the score of your son. You at least forgot 4 times to use your middle tapestry card. You placed 4 or 5 buildings without covering an orange dot. That could have even give you more points because of filling up rows. So this would gain you 20-30 more points. I can image though it is kind of hard to talk the whole video through and think about all of your options at the same time.
Are those tinmen sleeves?
Fun playthrough, nice to see how it plays at two, which I normally find out from Rahdo but he decided to be one of two people to do a solo play against the automa during the early non-opinion based coverage.
1:18:25 – Russian Railroads is a Worker Placement game where almost every scoring move scores points per round, played over iirc 7 rounds, so at the end of round 1 you're getting around 5-10 points and in the final scoring round I think you're usually getting over 100. I want to call it engine building (…Insert your own railway joke here), but it's awkward to do so since the engines you're building just give you more and more points per round rather than working like any other engine building game I've played so I'm not sure it really qualifies.
I think it's on both Yucata and BGA if you're on either of those sites if you want to sample it – BGA has the better UI but Yucatta has the expansion, German railroads, which mostly just changes the player boards making the engines your building very different and shakes up the strategies a lot, via parts of the track that aren't pre-planned giving you the choice of multiple possible benefits for expanding your basic low quality 0 point track to various spots.
(Not to be confused with Trains. When someone asked if I wanted to play it before my first game of it for some reason I thought RR and Trains were the same game. Trains is the deckbuilder with a board and building railway lines on that board. I think. I still haven't played Trains.)
I love this gameplay video! I can't wait to get my own copy of the game! Thank you so much for uploading this!At 41:30 , you are able to roll even if it's a failed conquer (due to a Trap card). I think. haha
Hi Dusty! Long time fan of the channel, first time posting. Really enjoyed this playthrough. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the vid. Don't worry about the goofs, you still accomplished you goal (Showing us how 2 player game works). Although I can understand how you feel because I am the same way when it comes to stuff like that. I am very excited for this although I won't be able to get it any time soon (we just found out a week ago that we are have a baby. Very happy) I would love to have it but maybe someone would give to me for Christmas or I can buy it after I take care of the stuff I have to take care. Thanks again, great job.
Thank you Dusty for this video! It was great to watch on so many levels. Great for learning the game and watching a father and son play for more of the fun and less of the competition. ❤
How Josh was able to build those small buildings so frequently? I guess I've missed this in the video;D Also did not feel that those different Civs special abilities are used that often.
Glad to see a multiplayer video of the game. I know they're not intentional, but I do get a bit frustrated when I spot a goof. Ultimately, I don't think it mattered. Now I'm kind of wondering how players are supposed to get into the 200s or 300s (or even 400s).
I love the sound of the plastic mats
That was fun to watch. Hope to see another game soon. Maybe with a third player (Automina or real).
My take away from this is that I think the 2p game will probably be better with an automa and/or shadow empire in use? It'd be awesome to see a video of a 2p game with it in use.
A good watch especially camera position.Surprised by some others who not put enough thought into theirs.
Painful to watch
At 33:36, forgot to gain the points for giving opponent a tile for sailing
Thanks so much for doing this Dusty! I really enjoyed watching a two player play through. Will be interesting to see what it's like playing with the Shadow Empire too. Thanks again.
thank you for posting. both you and your son sound like you'd be fun to play Tapestry with. Every time y'all missed a building/dice roll I was like Dusty! Dusty! don't forget your points/stuff! 🙂 I really enjoyed the relaxed/laidback atmosphere (it can get kind of competitive in our house even for friendly/casual games) and making mistakes (and how you handle them) I think is an important part of board games (since it involves social contract and gives room for improvement next play).
as my gaming group would say…..ASTERIK!!!!
Guy makes 10's of errors and gets pissed off because people tells him … bro if you didnt want people to comment on your playthrough, just dont post them on YouTube
If i got it right… you can play this game only on a quadratic table with 4 persons? Isn't that a bad limitation?
I've got a big rectangled wooden table on which you cant sit on all four sides with this "small" playboard
Subbed. Great job, fellas.
Nice playthrough! I would not use sleeves though for avoiding glare 😉
At 1h 1 minute. Your son places a tile down after moving up on the exploration track, shouldn't he had gained 1 more extra point from matching the terrain? He got 3, shouldn't it be 4? Not sure if I'm missing something 🙂
